We had to re-jiggle the car to fit in the two Swiss with
their enormous bags and two guitars (They play in a band – Knuts Koffer http://www.knutskoffer.ch/knutskoffer/kome.html).
We stopped in kabale where the boys seemed to know everyone
and then headed through Mbarara to Lake Mburo where we met up with Tom http://www.thomaswhitephotography.com/index.html
and Charlie who were down for the
weekend from Kampala.
Rwakobo Rock Lodge is run by Chris and Katie and Suzie who I
know from Kampala (http://www.rwakoborock.com/)
Their new lodge is absolutely fantastic and we loved every moment. Lots of
walks to do, more bird spotting, cycling (we saw all the pains game and a
hyeana), night drives, python hunting (we never found it), rock climbing (I
found that really, really difficult) where Tom and Charlie just nipped up.
We spent the day in Lake Mburo NP which to be honest was
slightly disappointing but we did have a great spot for breakfast and for lunch
and then for tea Fredrik helpfully got us well and truley stuck in the mud so
we had a good three hours to sit and drink tea until Idi came to rescue us! We
did have a few passers-by try too, but there was no hope and in the end only a
three car tow line worked!
We had lovely sundowners at Mihingo Lodge and then headed
back to Rwakobo for a rather late dinner or exquisite standards!
